  • 1 in 4 Indian Women wears US size 14 or Above, report
  • Fashion Industry is embracing Size Inclusivity offering every Size of apparel

Mys Tyler, a social-commerce platform, has released data from over 22,800 Indian women aged 18 and above, revealing that 1 in 4 Indian women are plus-size, wearing US size 14 or larger. The data aims to encourage the fashion industry to embrace size inclusivity and better represent diverse body types, aligning with Mys Tyler's mission to champion every body.

Sarah Neill, founder of Mys Tyler said "Our data suggests that the average Indian woman wears a US size 8, which is typically a size M-L in Indian clothing labels, and one-quarter of Indian women are considered 'plus-size'. While Indian fashion is increasingly becoming more inclusive, we still know that the release of this data highlights the disparity between the sizing of women in India and what they are being advertised and sold. We hope it acts as a "wake-up call" to the fashion industry and helps keep inclusion and diversity at the top of the agenda."

The data notes that India's women, comprising 25.8% of the population, typically wear US 14+ and are considered 'plus-size'. The average Indian woman wears US 8 sizes, the average height of Indian women is 160cm, and the average cup size worn is C cup. The data, collected from over 22,800 Indian women aged 18+ between 2020 and 2025, is aggregated and depersonalized to provide an up-to-date industry source.

Sarah Neill further adds, "Underrepresentation in the fashion industry not only has a negative impact on how women feel about their bodies, but it directly translates to an inefficient shopping experience, poor fit, and high return rates - negatively impacting profits, and environmental sustainability. We hope the industry sees this data and uses it as a call to action to help increase representation and size-inclusivity."
