Six MP Hockey Academy Gwalior junior women players have been selected for the Junior India Camp, which will consist of 32 core group members. Hockey India recently announced the core group.
Nishi Yadav, Haritika Singh, Sanskriti, Priyanka Yadav, Jyoti, and Khushboo Khan are among the six players who have made the cut, according to the official statement.
Sports Minister Yashodhara Raje Scindia expressed her delight at the news and congratulated the selected players and Paramjit Singh, the women's hockey chief coach.
Seven MP women's hockey academy players were recently selected for the Khelo India Talent Development Program (KIT). It is an Indian government initiative that selects and prepares hockey players from all over the country for the Olympics.
Scindia stated, “we had 9 players in Rio Olympics and then 7 players were called for Khelo India project and now 6 players for junior National camp. This is a dream come true for any state.” She further said that whenever women MP hockey players have been given the opportunity to play for the country, they have made everyone proud.
Scindia underlined, “women hockey players for the first time got an opportunity to hone their talent at an academy in Madhya Pradesh. This is what we have done. Indian team has majority of players trained in MP academy”.
According to the academy's chief coach, Paramjeet Singh, selecting such a large number of players for a national team from any state is quite rare and a source of pride.
