  • MoU exchange between Digital Green Trust and SERP, Andhra Pradesh
  • The exchange of the MoU happened during the celebrations of International Women’s Day
  • The event concentrated on women entrepreneurs, economic empowerment, and welfare schemes

In the Amaravati International Women's Day Celebration, a Certificate of Cooperation (MoU) was signed between Digital Green Trust and the Society for the Elimination of Rural Poverty (SERP), Government of Andhra Pradesh, witnessed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

The signing of the agreement was part of the celebrations for International Women's Day at the State Level for 2026 which took place at the Parade Grounds in Amaravati.

This celebration focused on women entrepreneurs, economic empowerment, and the welfare of women and contained many other significant announcements including initiatives to encourage women entrepreneurs, enhance the enterprises of Self-Help Groups, and provide greater access to market for women entrepreneurs.

Digital Green and SERP will work together to develop digital competency in women-owned farmer producer organizations (FPO) and speedy support groups (SHG) that SERP helps.

Climate-specific agricultural innovations and the connection to the agricultural ecosystem will also be promoted as part of this collaboration.

To achieve the objectives of Digital Green and SERP's partnership, Digital Green will implement FarmerChat, which is an AI-driven multi-language, multi-faceted application which will provide farmers with relevant, real-time sourcing, growing conditions of their crops, and daily weather updates, as well as incorporating climate-smart farming practices. FarmerChat will enhance interaction between women-led farmers and FPOs.

Digital Green Trust's Chief Executive Officer, Nidhi Bhasin, remarked that women farmers comprise a substantial portion of the rural population farming workforce; thus it is imperative to foster and improve women's access to information, materials, and institutional aid.

Our continued partnership with SERP signifies our shared mission of empowering smallholder farmers, particularly female farmers, via digital technologies on a wide scale.

By leveraging SERP's decentralized network and our farmer-centric digital initiatives, we hope to create a more equitable and sustainable agricultural ecosystem in Andhra Pradesh.

Digital Green and SERP have collaborated on many projects in several states, including in Andhra Pradesh from 2011 to 2014 as a way to offer support for smallholder farmers through technology-based extensions.

The new memorandum of understanding shows renewed commitment for both organisations toward providing heightened levels of advanced technology to empower smallholder farmers through improved community-based agriculture extension systems.

In addition, Digital Green will implement its enterprise-focused products within Farmer Producer Organisations (“FPO”), assisting FPOs in tracking ownership records, tracking business transactions, and maintaining up-to-date institutional records.

This cooperative arrangement will also facilitate the development of a cadre of state-level “Trainers of Trainers,” as well as provide ongoing support to FPO entities by using data analytics to assist in making more informed decisions.
