One of the main features of the Mhapsekarancho Ekvott panel's manifesto for the upcoming April 23 municipality elections is a new Mahila market for self-help groups. It has also suggested creating several parking facilities near the municipal market, KTC bus stop, and other locations in order to decongest Mapusa.

A self-help community is a financial intermediary committee made up of 10 to 25 local women ranging in age from 18 to 40 years old. In general, a SHG is a loose grouping or union of people who work on a daily wage. Money is raised by those who can donate and distributed to members who are in need.

The panel’s manifesto was released recently by its convener, Pradeep Sawant, and in the presence of former councillor Sudir Kandolkar and other candidates of the panel. “We are confident of getting all 16 candidates elected to the council,” Kandolkar, who is contesting once again, said.

Sudir Kandolar has served BJP for 20 years and now he joins Congress.

Pradip Sawant (born 1962) is an Indian Police Officer, currently serving as the DCP Security Branch in Mumbai Police. He is a recipient of the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2002.

The panel has recommended upgrading the local sector and completing the new bus station project as soon as possible. It also plans to build mini taxi, car, and motorcycle stands in rural areas to create jobs and resurface major internal roads.
