To mark Sir Syed Day, Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia launched a free wellness, literacy and skilling hub for women at Kashaan e-Mustafa in the Nazirabad area of Lucknow.
The tagline of the gender-sensitive wing of Talha Society, Kishwari Konnect is, Ek Jazba, Ek Fikr, Ek Mission! It is dedicated to the memory of Late Kishwari Mustafa, a social thinker and philanthropist.
“I strongly believe that women should be empowered through education and skilling to help create a fair and sustainable environment,” said Bhatia. Due to the Covid protocols, only the enrolled learners and ‘area vertical members’ were invited to the venue while others joined online.
The Mayor said she was happy with the motivational enterprise and is confident that it will turn out to be an inspiring pilot project that many will like to replicate.
Kulsum Mustafa, the chief functionary of Talha Society and Kishwari Konnect, and a senior journalist, talked about the workshops on tie and die, vertical gardening and English speaking that her team had organised at the centre earlier.
Sanyukta Bhatia is the first woman to be elected as the Mayor of Lucknow.
