Bollywood actor Madhuri Dixit has been announced as the new host of Kon Honar Crorepati, the Marathi adaptation of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). With the appointment, Madhuri becomes the first woman to host a KBC franchise, marking a significant change in the show's hosting history.

The makers unveiled the announcement promo on August 11, coinciding with the premiere of Amitabh Bachchan-led KBC Season 18 on Sony LIV. The reveal connects the Marathi show's upcoming season with the wider momentum surrounding the flagship KBC franchise.
Madhuri's appointment also marks her return to television hosting after 24 years. She last hosted Kahin Naa Kahin Koi Hai in 2002. Although she remained a prominent television personality over the years, her appearances were largely as a judge on dance reality shows, including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa and Dance Deewane. Kon Honar Crorepati will therefore mark her first major quiz-show hosting assignment.
The actress is also the second woman to host a regional KBC adaptation, following actor Radikaa Sarathkumar, who previously presented the Tamil edition Kodeeswari.
Madhuri's strong connection with Maharashtra and Marathi audiences played a key role in the casting. A Maharashtrian by origin, she has frequently celebrated the state's culture through her work. Her Marathi film debut came with the 2018 film Bucket List, further strengthening her association with Marathi entertainment.
The upcoming season carries the campaign tagline “Aata Khel Badalnar”, meaning “the game is about to change”. The campaign signals a fresh direction for the long-running quiz show, which first premiered in 2013. Previous hosts of Kon Honar Crorepati include Sachin Khedekar, Swapnil Joshi and filmmaker Nagraj Manjule.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Madhuri described the hosting opportunity as a “very special new chapter”. She said the show represents knowledge, dreams and possibilities, while expressing excitement about meeting contestants and hearing their stories and aspirations.
Kon Honar Crorepati will air on Sony Marathi, with streaming available on Sony LIV. The makers have not yet announced the official premiere date.
Madhuri's television comeback comes alongside her ongoing screen projects. She recently appeared in the Netflix crime comedy Maa Behen alongside Triptii Dimri and led the JioHotstar thriller series, Mrs. Deshpande. Her new hosting role adds another dimension to her continued presence across Bollywood and digital entertainment.
