The National Skill Development Corporation and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the Sport, Physical Education, Fitness, and Leisure Skills Council (SPEFL-SC) have introduced a comprehensive program for women that emphasizes the value of self-defense and independence.
The SPEFL-SC has returned to J&K with another comprehensive self-defense program that will start from 1 July 2023 in response to the success of their pilot program conducted in the Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir last year which attracted 300 women. Over 1800 young women will receive self-defense and independence training during the 12-day program, which will take place in the Kupwara district. The self-defense courses offered by SPEFL-SC have already educated more than 15,000 people.
The main aim of the SPEFL-SC course is to help students develop self-reliance and find creative solutions to remove their obstacles. In order to empower women and increase their self-confidence as a whole makes this training is important. This training also teaches students how to handle potentially tense situations with assurance and discourages using violence or fighting as a form of defense.
