KIIT Team wins AICTE Lilavati Award 2021-22 under the sub-theme

A four-member team from Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Deemed to be University, led by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sasmita Samanta, has been awarded the prestigious AICTE Lilavati Award 2021-22 under the sub-theme "Legal Awareness" in yet another recognition of its outstanding work in the field of women empowerment. At a special felicitation ceremony in New Delhi on March 8, 2022, on the occasion of International Women's Day, Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman, AICTE, gave the award to Prof. Sasmita Samanta, Vice-Chancellor, KIIT-DU. Smriti Irani, the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, spoke at the award ceremony virtually.
AICTE Lilavati Awards are given across eight sub-themes, including Women and Adolescent Health, Self-Defense, Environment, Sanitation, and Hygiene, Literacy and Life Skills, Women Entrepreneurship, Legal Awareness, Technology for Women, and Women Innovators. They are a government of India initiative aimed at creating an ambiance of equality and fairness for women in educational institutions.

AICTE Lilavati Awards are given across eight sub-themes, including Women and Adolescent Health, Self-Defense, Environment, Sanitation, and Hygiene, Literacy and Life Skills, Women Entrepreneurship, Legal Awareness, Technology for Women, and Women Innovators. They are a government of India initiative aimed at creating an ambiance of equality and fairness for women in educational institutions.
For its contribution to the formation of an equitable just society with peace and pleasure, KIIT was named the winner in the 'Legal Awareness' sub-theme. The prize money for the award is Rs. 1,00,000/-. After a thorough examination of the work done in the subject of women empowerment, an expert committee created by AICTE nominated a winner and two runners-up from among over 500 participants in each sub-theme. The winners were chosen by the AICTE based on the expert committee's recommendations.
KIIT Deemed to be University, a Government of India-recognized 'Institution of Eminence,' is notable for its broad range of social outreach initiatives. Since its foundation, it has encouraged women's empowerment, and more than 60% of KIIT's employees are female, including some in leadership roles.
Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS, expressed his gratitude to AICTE for bestowing the honour on KIIT. Prof. Sasmita Samanta and her colleagues were also commended on their achievement.
