- ICC reveals April Player of the Month nominees after Women's World Cup 2025 Qualifier
- Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews, and Pakistan captain Fatima Sana are the nominees
The ICC has made official the April Women's Player of the Month nominees, awarding three role models—Scotland's Kathryn Bryce, West Indies' Hayley Matthews, and Pakistan's Fatima Sana—for exceptional performance during the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier.
Kathryn Bryce, grit and determination in command of Scotland, was the top scorer at the tournament. She made 293 runs in five matches at a batting average of 73.25, including an incredible unbeaten 131 against Ireland—the tournament's highest individual score. To go along with her batting, she also took six wickets and was awarded the Player of the Tournament for her excellent all-round performance.
West Indies captain Hayley Matthews was a solitary hand on both sides. She scored 240 runs at a sizzling 116.50 strike rate and 60 with her bat. She led the wicket chart as a bowler with 13 wickets at 15.84. Her dazzling opening match against Scotland featured four wickets and dominant century. On their last do-or-die game against Thailand, Matthews scored 70 off 29 balls and her team narrowly missed qualification through a net run rate of 0.01.
Fatima Sana, the Pakistani captain, took her side through an impeccable tournament, entering the qualification on the strength of five consecutive victories. Sana topped the Pakistani wicket-list with 12 at an economic rate of 3.97. Sana even impressed with the bat with punctual contributions like an unbeaten 62 in winning the Thailand match, proving her grip through the tournament.
All three captains not only commanded with authority but also produced game-altering performances of a personal nature, which made them the favorites for the best in April.
