Justice Prathiba Singh Named WIPO's Advisory Board Chairperson

Justice Prathiba M. Singh of the Delhi High Court has been appointed as the chairperson of the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) Advisory Board of Judges for the period 2025–2027.
India's United Nations Mission in Geneva, after her appointment, termed it as "a proud moment for India," as she would be chairing an international group of judges and guiding WIPO's cooperation with judiciaries in intellectual property (IP) as chairperson.
WIPO welcomed Justice Singh and noted her further function as co-chair of the Working Group on Regulatory Considerations on Artificial Intelligence in Health of the World Health Organization.
The Advisory Board includes nine further members who advise WIPO's work with judiciaries. Members act in their own capacity for a specified term.
Justice Prathiba was earlier chairperson and presiding judge of the first Intellectual Property Division of the Delhi High Court in the 2021–2022 sessions.
She started her legal career in 1991 and has appeared before the Supreme Court of India, the Delhi High Court, the IP Appellate Board, and the Indian Patent Office on a regular basis.
She obtained her law degree from University Law College, Bangalore, and LL.M. from the University of Cambridge. As a tribute to her work, the "Prathiba M. Singh Scholarship" for LL.M. scholars was instituted at Cambridge in 2013.
Prathiba was included in the list of the 50 most influential intellectual property persons in the world in the years 2021 and 2022.
The Advisory Board newly inducted includes Luis Antonio Camargo Vergara (Panama), Du Weike (China), Zhanar Mukhamedkaliyevna Duisenova (Kazakhstan), Mohammad ElZend (Egypt), Jean-Christophe Gayet (France), Michael Manson (Canada), Mustapher Mohamed Siyani (Tanzania), Savvas S. Papasavvas (European Union), and Woo Sungyop (South Korea).
