The Jharkhand IAS Officers’ Wives Association (JIASOWA) will organize its annual five-day Diwali fair at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi from October 29 to November 2, providing rural women entrepreneurs and artisans with an opportunity to showcase and sell their products.

The fair aims to promote women’s entrepreneurship and support rural artisans by creating opportunities for self-employment and helping them reach a wider customer base. The event will bring together entrepreneurs and artisans from several parts of the country, offering visitors access to a diverse range of products and traditional crafts.

According to association secretary Manu Jha, entrepreneurs from eight states, including Jharkhand, will participate in the fair. Participants from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Bihar are expected to showcase their products alongside entrepreneurs from Jharkhand.

Key Highlights:

  • JIASOWA will host a five-day Diwali fair in Ranchi from October 29 to November 2
  • Entrepreneurs from eight states will showcase indigenous products and traditional artworks
  • The fair will also offer free health check-ups and information on government welfare schemes

The fair will have a variety of items such as indigenous clothes, tribal food and traditional artworks. The highlights will be Kohbar, Sohrai and Madhubani paintings. The emphasis on regional products and traditional art is also likely to be beneficial for the artisans in terms of visibility and promotion of the cultural heritage of various regions of India.

The initiative follows the trend of exhibitions and fairs that allow small businesses and local entrepreneurs to meet their customers face to face. The recent events at Morabadi Ground in Ranchi have also been a testament to the need of exhibitions to promote the use of local products, entrepreneurship and market.

Apart from the commercial activities, there will be provision of public welfare and community facilities at the Diwali fair. Visitors will attend the free health check-up camps, and stalls will be set up to inform visitors about various welfare schemes launched by the Jharkhand government.

A mobile ATM facility will also be provided on the fair premises for ease of transaction for the visitors. These will be expected to enhance the accessibility of the event and will be a combination of entrepreneurship promotion and community services.

It is expected that the fair will provide a platform for the participating women entrepreneurs and artisans for promoting their products in the festive season. JIASOWA seeks to promote women entrepreneurship, help traditional artisans and promote local products by having all the sellers from different states in one place.

The event will also provide a chance for the visitors to get acquainted with the products of the various cultural and traditional areas. The five-day fair is seen as a festive market and a place to support women-led and rural businesses, with entrepreneurship and handicrafts being the main pillars of the event.
