- Meolaa, a digitally native FMCG brand, raised $6 million in a pre-Series A financing round
- The money will be utilized to produce cleaner and more sustainable FMCG products
- The round was headed by General Catalyst, with support from Claypond Capital and existing investors
Meolaa, a technology-savvy FMCG business, has raised $6 million in a pre-Series A funding transaction spearheaded by General Catalyst with participation from Claypond Capital, Colossa Ventures, Kunal Shah, Turbostart Global, and other early investors.
The Bengaluru startup had earlier raised $4.43 million in seed round funding from Manipal Group and other investors.
The funds raised will be applied to further enhance Meolaa's artificial intelligence and data science capabilities, build its portfolio of brands, and drive operational efficiency and scale.
Started in 2023 by Ishita Sawant, Meolaa is an e-commerce marketplace that handpicks sustainable Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brands across categories like fashion, beauty, home, and baby care.
Meolaa uses a marketplace model, where partner brands pay a commission on sales but consumers get to access sustainable and eco-friendly products.
Meolaa employs artificial intelligence and innovative analytics in consumer understanding, product creation, brand development, packaging, and supply chain operations to develop an integrated work stream that speeds up product development and market preparation.
Whereas conventional FMCG players take 18–24 months to conceive and roll out new products, Meolaa's AI-based system reduces this timeline by integrating real-time market insight with systematic innovation and responsive go-to-market approaches.
HIRA, which is the company's brand, made Rs 1 crore in monthly recurring revenue only three months after its launch. Meolaa reached annual recurring revenue (ARR) of Rs 100 crore in 18 months, showing the scalability of its AI-powered business model, and served over 600,000 customers.
