IndiGo Airline Introduces Policy Allowing Women Passengers to opt Their Seats
By: WE Staff | Thursday, 25 July 2024
India's IndiGo airline has introduced a new policy allowing female passengers to choose to sit next to other women during flights starting August 2024. This innovative measure allows women to see the gender of other passengers seated nearby and select their seating arrangements, empowering them to make informed seating choices. This move is expected to be particularly beneficial for women traveling alone.
IndiGo has become the first airline globally to implement this move offering women the option of staying away from men during their flights. This a groundbreaking initiative in the global aviation sector that allows female passengers to see the gender and choose their seat next to another woman if they wish to, unlike men who only see available seats.
IndiGo, India's low-cost airline, plans to implement changes to its flights, based on a survey aimed at making travel more comfortable for women. It operates 2,000 domestic and international flights a day. IndiGo mentions, "IndiGo is proud to announce the introduction of a new feature that aims to make the travel experience more comfortable for our female passengers. This has been introduced based on market research and is currently in pilot mode aligning with our #GirlPower ethos." It further added, "We are committed to providing an unparalleled travel experience for all our passengers, and this new feature is just one of the many steps we are taking towards achieving that goal."
