Indian Women's Boxing Team is off to Turkey for a World Championship Training Camp

The Indian women's boxing team, led by Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, flew to Istanbul, Turkey, for a training camp as part of the team's preparation for the 2022 IBA Women's World Boxing Championships.
The Indian squad will compete against boxers from Kazakhstan, Turkey, Algeria, Panama, Lithuania, Morocco, Bulgaria, Serbia, the Dominican Republic, and Ireland at the camp.
From April 20 through May 5, the camp will be held. From May 6 to 21, the World Championships will be held in Istanbul.
In the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships thus far, India has won one silver and six bronze medals.
Nitu (48kg), Anamika (50kg), Nikhat (52kg), Shiksha (54kg), Manisha (57kg), Jaismine (60kg), Parveen (63kg), Ankushita (66kg), Lovlina (70kg), Saweety (75kg), Pooja Rani (81kg), Nandini (+81kg) are the members of the World Boxing Championships squad.
Lovlina Borgohain is a boxer from India. She earned a bronze medal in the women's welterweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming only the third Indian boxer to do so. At the 2018 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships and the 2019 AIBA Women's World Boxing Championships, she won bronze medals. At the 1st India Open International Boxing Tournament in New Delhi, she won gold, and at the 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament in Guwahati, she won silver. Borgohain is Assam's first female athlete and the state's second boxer to compete in the Olympics. She was the sixth person from Assam to receive the Arjuna Award in 2020. Assam's government has nominated Borgohain as Deputy Superintendent of Police.
