Indian Women's Badminton Team beats Scots to Qualify for Uber Cup Quarters

Indian Women’s Badminton team marked their victory in quarterfinals of the Uber Cup. The shuttlers, Aditi Bhatt (Uttarakhand) and Tasnim Mir (Gujara t) conquer over Scotland with a score of 4-1.

The women team defeated Spain with score of 3-2 when legend badminton player Saina Nehwal was suffered from groin issue during the opening match on Sunday. The country did not get a good start as Malvika Bansod (Maharashtra) defeated by Kristy Gilmour 13-21, 9-21. To level up the score, Aditi registered her victory over Rachel Sugden with score card of 21-14, 21-8.

The Indian Women’s doubles pair Tanisha Crasto (Goa) and Rutaparna Panda (Orissa) presented stunning performance by defeating Julie Machperson and Ciara Torrance with score of 21-11, 21-8 and gifted India a lead of 2-1.

Tasnim Mir marked her win over Lauren Middleton 21-15, 21-6.

The teenage pair of Treesa Jolly (Kerala) and Gayatri Gopichand (Telangana), daughter of Pullela Gopichand national coach, played their first match and registered their win over Gilmour and Eleanour O’ Donnell with score of 21-8, 19-21, 21-10 by presenting a thrilling battle that lasted for 55 minutes.

The Indian Team will face Thailand on Wednesday. India has reached the semifinals of the tournament twice (2014, New Delhi and 2016, Kunshan).
