The India U-17 Women’s National teametched a spectacular 17-1 victory over WSS Barcelona Club in the final match of the exposure tour before the FIFA World Cup.
India made a dominant start by scoring the first goal in the very third minute. By the half time, India had built a comfortable 14-0 lead with goals being scored by Anita (5′, 11′, 12′,16′, 27′), Nitu Linda (7′, 12′, 34′, 38′), Lynda Kom (8′, 15′) and Neha (20′, 22′).
Post halftime, Coach Thomas Dennerbybegan the game with the substitute squad.WSS Barcelona Club performed better in the second half and showcased strong defence. Maria Flores made some good saves. WSS Barcelona Club scored its first goal in the 54th minute as Sandra scored.
A few minutes later, Lavanya struck from the right but was saved. She got the rebound and managed to score bringing the score up to 15-1. Two minutes later, Rejiyaalso scored. The Indian team added one more goal in the 75th minute bringing the game to a close in favour of team India.
India is all set to host the U-17 FIFA World Cup from October 11th and the country is eagerly waiting to see team India’s performance in the upcoming event
