By: WE Staff | Tuesday, 9 May 2023
All the activities along the Kartavya Path for the 2024 Republic Day Parade will include all women with the exception of men, as a part of the Indian government's considerable efforts to empower women. Since this is the first time that such an initiative has been taken in India.
The parade will include only female participants in the March Past, tableaux, and performances, according to a notice from the Ministry of Defence. They reported that this decision has been taken after several considerations. It has been taken in order to promote gender equality in the country and promote women's active participation everywhere.
The defence ministry has informed about this decision to other departments, including Home Affairs, Culture, and Urban Development. The government has started a number of initiatives this year to boost the number of female participation in the military. The female officers have opportunities for leadership roles and are also positioned in combat duties which were previously only restricted to men.
