  • This was the largest margin of victory for India at this event

India began their Junior Women's Hockey World Cup campaign with a convincing 13–0 win over Namibia on Monday. Hina Bano and Kanika Siwach scored hat-tricks as India registered their biggest win in the history of the tournament.

Along with Hina's goals (35', 35', 45') and Kanika's (12', 30', 45'), Sakshi Rana (10', 23') scored two goals, while Binima Dhan (14'), Sonam (14'), Sakshi Shukla (27'), Ishika (36') and Manisha (60') also contributed to the tally.

The win put India atop their group's standings. In four minutes, India scored four goals to secure an early advantage in the match.

Sakshi opened with a reverse flick, while Kanika doubled the lead with a firm finish. Binima scored the third from a direct run, and Sonam completed a passing move to score the fourth, giving India a 4-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw India continuing to press and Sakshi scoring her second after a strong run and strike. Namibia tried to push forward but was regularly thwarted by the Indian midfield.

Sakshi then scored a penalty-corner drag flick, while Kanika added her second goal just before halftime to make it 7–0.

India continued to dominate after the break as Hina first scored with a shot into the top corner and then again soon after, this time taking advantage of some slack Namibia restart.

Ishika scored the tenth from a penalty-corner rebound before Hina completed her hat-trick with another penalty-corner deflection. Kanika went on to notch her third from a penalty corner as India took the lead to 12–0 at the end of the third quarter.

India made a number of substitutions in the final quarter but still managed to create chances. Manisha then converted a penalty corner to seal the result at 13–0 for India in their opening match of the tournament.
