India Announces Squad for ICC Under-19 Women's T20 WC with Niki Prasad as Captain

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the 15-member squad for the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from January 18 to February 2, 2024.
The Indian squad will be led by Niki Prasad, with Sanika Chalke appointed vice-captain. Two wicketkeepers, Kamalini G and Bhavika Ahire included in the squad. Three standby players Nandhana S, Ira J, and Anadi T., were named by the Women’s Selection Committee.
Group Stage and Tournament Format
India, the defending champions, have been placed in Group A alongside Malaysia, West Indies, and Sri Lanka. The tournament will be hosted at Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur, with 16 teams divided into four groups. India’s campaign kicks off on January 19 against West Indies, followed by matches against Malaysia (January 21) and Sri Lanka (January 23).
The group phase runs from January 19-23, with the top three teams from each group advancing to the Super 6 stage, which will be held from January 25-29. Super 6 will feature two groups of six teams each, where India will compete to qualify for the semifinals. The top two teams from each Super 6 group will advance to the semifinals on January 31, with the final scheduled for February 2.
Other Teams and Qualification
Along with India, other teams that have qualified through their participation in the 2023 edition include Australia, Bangladesh, England, Ireland, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the West Indies. Malaysia has earned an automatic qualification as host, while Nepal, Nigeria, Samoa, Scotland, and the United States have qualified through regional tournaments.
