India Announces 16-member Women's Squad for Bangladesh Series

India will lead a 5-match series in Bangladesh, starting preparations for the T20 World Cup, starting from April 28 to May 9, 2024. The Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur along with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. For the upcoming series, India has selected a formidable 16-member squad that features two phenomenal debutants namely Asha Sobhana and Sajeevan Sajana.

33-year-old Asha Sobhana is a strong leg-spinner who solidified her name during the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024. She showcased her skills as a player of Royal Challengers Bengaluru grabbing 12 wickets with an astonishing average of 15.14. She was crucial during the match against Delhi Capitals grabbing wickets of strong players like Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen whereas, during the match against UP Warriorz, she took 5 wickets clinching wide attention. She had scores of 3-0-14-2. Her outstanding performance during the tournament made her included in the team.

Another player Sajeevan Sajana, an all-rounder for Mumbai Indians in the WPL 2024 grabbed wide attention after hitting a last-ball six against Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. She clinched 24, 22*, and 30 to demonstrate her consistency with her batting performance. Additionally, she is also a great off-break bowler in the WPL after grabbing two wickets against Gujarat Giants.

Another emerging player from the Indian Women's Cricket team, Shreyanka Patil will also capture attention for her bowling skills. She is the reigning Purple Cap winner with 13 wickets during the WPL 2024.
