India aims to achieve 70 per cent female workforce participation by 2047, a goal emphasized by Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, during the first-ever regional dialogue under the Global Coalition for Social Justice.
The government aims to create fair workplaces, address pay gaps, and enhance leadership representation for women. Initiatives like extended maternity leave, creche facilities, and equal pay provisions are part of this effort. The event aims to foster partnerships among governments, international organizations, workers' unions, businesses, and civil society to create tangible solutions.
The Global Coalition for Social Justice held an event involving stakeholders to collaborate on solutions for equitable growth and social security. Participants united to build a more just and inclusive world, fostering partnerships among governments, international organizations, workers' unions, businesses, and civil society to create tangible solutions.
The event featured Panchdeep lighting, dignitaries' addresses, and Union Minister Mandaviya's emphasis on India's social justice initiatives. He highlighted labor reforms, social security expansion, and responsible business conduct, highlighting the consolidation of 39 labor laws into four simplified codes.
According to the International Labour Organization's (ILO) World Social Protection Report 2024-25, India's social protection coverage reached 48.8 per cent in 2024, due to the modernization of key government agencies. The ISRAM portal and mobile app are improving last-mile delivery of social benefits.
The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Confederation of Indian Industry, and Employers' Federation of India presented a Joint Statement on Responsible Business Conduct during the event, emphasizing ethical practices, fair wages, workplace safety, and workers' well-being. The statement urged enterprises to integrate social responsibility into their operations.
Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya emphasized India's focus on empowering women in the workforce, aiming for 70 per cent female workforce participation by 2047. He emphasized the importance of skill development and job creation, citing an increase in Indian graduates and a decline in unemployment rates. The Union Budget 2025-26 aims to achieve these goals.
