Sangeeta Mishra, a third-year student at IIT BHU, challenged 73 thousand female technologists to win the title of champion at the TechGig Geek Goddess 2021 edition.
TechGig Geek Goddess is India's largest coding competition for women technologists, with the goal of displaying female programmers' coding ability. The seventh edition of this yearly event recently concluded with a big virtual finale event. This year drew a record-breaking 73 thousand women technologists, the greatest number ever seen in this competition.
There was an open coding round as well as hackathons in the coding competition. The UiPath RPA Hackathon, American Express Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Hackathon, and Tech Aptitude Challenge were among the three specialist technology-based challenges available at the hackathons. The American Express AI/ML Hackathon challenged technologists to create a model that could predict whether or not a client would be interested in a financial plan.
The goal of the UiPath RPA Hackathon was to find out-of-the-box automations that business customers could perform right from their UiPath Assistant. Notably, both of these are real-time business problems for which these tech behemoths are looking for solutions.
The open coding round drew the most participants (15,965 people), followed by the Tech Aptitude Challenge (15,965 people), the American Express AI/ML Hackathon (2,487 people), and the UiPath RPA Hackathon (2,487 people) (2,196 participants).
The number of tech students among the finalists is more than double that of professionals (315 students vs. 156 professionals), demonstrating students' determination to show their technical mastery and so make themselves more employable.
As part of the grand finale event, Geek Goddess sponsored its signature Women Disruptors' Conference. 19 female technology executives from companies such as American Express, Goldman Sachs, UiPath, EY Global Delivery Services, TomTom, Thoughtworks, SAP Labs, Cisco, Capgemini, Verizon, GlobalLogic India, Intel, Ericsson, and others attended the conference.
These speakers spoke at two panel talks and three fireside chats about how women technologists drove innovations in the face of COVID-19 and how to flourish in the post-pandemic workplace.
This year is noteworthy in many ways, as Geek Goddess introduced the 'Geek Goddess Diversity and HR Awards,' which honour and recognise firms and executives who promote the cause of gender diversity in the tech industry.
In addition to Sangeeta Mishra, eleven additional winners were named in other categories. The winners would receive a total of Rs 5.35 lakh in rewards.
