IHCL Introduces 'She Remains The Taj' Initiative to Strengthen Support for Women's Empowerment
By: WE Staff | Thursday, 12 May 2022
'She Remains the Taj,' a holistic framework of women-centric programmes for all stakeholders, including guests, staff, partners, and the community, was established by Indian Hotels Firm (IHCL), India's largest hotel company. This includes improved female traveller experiences at its hotels around the world. IHCL also stated its intention to increase women's participation in the workforce to 25% by 2025, as well as promote women-led enterprises and partners.
Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, spoke at the event, “IHCL is known for championing the cause of women and enhancing their participation both, within and outside the organization. Cognizant of the growing economic influence of women consumers, ‘She Remains the Taj’ re-iterates our commitment to creating customer-centric experiences for travellers.”
He added, “We will introduce a series of initiatives and enabling policies to increase workforce participation. Keeping community at the core, IHCL will continue to extend economic opportunities to the larger ecosystem.”
The consumer value proposition for women travellers has been designed based on significant research to include enhanced degrees of privacy, security, customised amenities, and stay offerings. Women will fill 25% of these posts in upcoming IHCL hotels as part of the company's commitment to increasing women in leadership positions.
IHCL has pioneered initiatives such as the first all-women managed luxury homes in South Asia, Taj Wellington Mews in Chennai, and the first all-women engineers' team to develop Ginger's flagship hotel in Mumbai. Extended maternity leave, crèche facilities, healthcare benefits, including IVF treatments, and skilling of women in underserved communities and regions are among its industry-leading programmes.
'She Remains the Taj,' a film highlighting the spirit of women, was launched at an event over a panel discussion with notable personalities, paying tribute to the legendary brand 'Taj' and its century-old tradition.
