Hyderabad leads India with the highest ratio of women investors in the crypto space at 45 per cent, according to CoinSwitch's India's Crypto Portfolio 2024: How India Invests report. The city ranks fourth-largest in India's crypto investments in 2024 and has the third-highest percentage of green portfolios, with 84 per cent of investors seeing positive returns. The report also highlights the growing engagement with digital assets in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities.
Balaji Srihari, Vice President of CoinSwitch, mentioned, "At CoinSwitch, we have witnessed a spike in crypto investment across India. What was once concentrated in major metros is now quickly expanding to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, reflecting the growing appeal. With Bitcoin crossing the $100,000 mark to close out the year, it sets the stage for an exciting journey of growth in 2025."
The reports further show that 15 per cent of Indian crypto investors are women, with Hyderabad leading the way. The majority of investors are 25-35 years old, tech-savvy, and open to new financial instruments. Popular cryptocurrencies include Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin, with newer coins and tokens also gaining traction. Bengaluru and Delhi are the top cities in investment volume. Educational programs and resources are being developed to increase awareness of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. The evolving regulatory environment is affecting crypto adoption, with a positive sentiment.
