HSBC India & AFI host 'Send-Off' Ceremony for Athletes heading to Paris Olympics

HSBC India and the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) hosted a grand send-off ceremony for Indian athletes heading to the 2024 Paris Olympics. The event underscored HSBC's commitment to nurturing talent, particularly among women athletes. Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra inspired the athletes during the event and asked them to make collective efforts and work hard to clinch success.

Over 25 athletes, including Parul Chaudhary, Annu Rani, Jyothi Yarraji, Jeswin Aldrin, Praveen Chithravel, and Tajinderpal Singh Toor, were present at the ceremony. AFI President Adille J Sumariwalla and HSBC India's Head of Wealth and Personal Banking, Sandeep Batra praised athletes for their welfare and success, expressing gratitude for HSBC's support in improving training facilities and performance levels.

Adille Sumariwalla mentions, "This partnership over the years has not only helped in enhancing training facilities and raising performance levels of our athletes in international events but also encouraged more companies to come forward and support sports development and infrastructure in the country. The journey to Paris is a result of collective efforts and hard work. We are confident that our athletes will bring home laurels."

India's boxer Nikhat Zareen (Women's 51kg), boxer Lovlina Borgohain (Women's 75kg), weightlifter Preeti Pawar (Women's 54kg), and wrestler Jasmine have secured spots in the Paris 2024 Olympics, while six Indian wrestlers, including Anshu Malik (Women's 57kg), Antim Panghal (Women's 53kg), Vinesh Phogat (Women's 50kg), Reetika Hooda (Women's 76kg), and Nisha Dahiya (Women's 68kg), will compete.
