Honeywell Hometown Solutions India Foundation (HHSIF), Honeywell's charitable arm, has signed a three-year agreement with ICT Academy to establish skill development centres in 50 institutions across the country. Honeywell has committed to investing ten crore in the first year to build these centres as part of this.
Certifications in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), big data analytics, and nanotechnology will be available at the centres. This upskilling programme is projected to assist 15,000 students, half of whom are women, in completing the project cycle and finding work.
“The programme offers a globally recognized certificate that will benefit bright students from marginalized sections of society who are enrolled in engineering, arts, and science colleges in tier-I and tier-II cities across Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. HHSIF is also establishing centres for women students, demonstrating Honeywell’s commitment to promoting inclusion and diversity in the country’s workforce," Honeywell said in a statement.
The curriculum comprises 100 hours of classroom time, personal mentoring in specified technologies, competence examinations, certification, and campus placements for students. Leaders from Honeywell will also provide their time to assess content, offer guest lectures, and guide students.
The ICT Academy, a government of India project, works with state governments and businesses to provide instructors and students with skills that meet industry needs and help create jobs in tier-II and tier-III cities and rural regions.
The Global and National Priorities of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and corresponding national policies are the inspiration for HHSIF's programmes. Education and skill development, gender equality, natural resources and the environment, holistic rural development, and disaster management are all priorities for HHSIF.
