Haryana Becomes India's 7th-Largest State with 45% Female-led Startups

Haryana, the seventh-largest state in India with over 8,800 DPIIT-recognized startups, has emerged as a significant player in the country's startup scene. The growing ecosystem is contributing significantly to job creation in the area and promoting economic diversification.

One of the unique selling points of Haryana's startup ecosystem is its firm commitment to gender diversity—over 45 percent of these startups have female founders, reflecting the state of empowered women entrepreneurs. In a recent evaluation of the State Startup Ecosystem and Incubator Schemes, the officials highlighted Haryana's increasing footprint in India's unicorn ecosystem, with 19 out of India's 117 unicorns being from the state.

Haryana's charm is also complemented by a pro-business environment, availability of a skilled manpower, and increasing investor enthusiasm. The state already facilitates innovation through 25 university-based incubators and 20 other incubators in the public and private sectors. With the new State Startup Policy 2022 schemes, Haryana will become even more of a dynamic and inclusive startup ecosystem in India.
