  • Google has promoted Ragini Das as the new Head of Google for Startups in India
  • Ragini had earlier interviewed at Google in 2013 but never pursued the path
  • She worked at Zomato for six years, where she had professional and personal development

Google has appointed entrepreneur and startup CEO Ragini Das as the new Head of Google for Startups, India. This is a full-circle moment for Das, who had interviewed with Google back in 2013 but took a different career path that would eventually make her a prominent startup leader.

Ragini emphasized that though she didn't come on board at Google at the time; her six years with Zomato provided her with a good professional and personal footing. She credits this experience with building her "career moat" and allowing her to co-found leap.club, a networking site supported by women who are ambitious.

She was instrumental in building a strong app-based and offline network at leap.club, was instrumental in raising $2.2 million, and ensured that 50 percent of its cap table was women investors—the first by any startup in India.

In her new role at Google, Ragini will make it her mission to enable early founders throughout India through Google for Startups which is deeply important to her from her love for building and empowering entrepreneurship development and getting underrepresented founders community, resources, and mentorship.

Ragini was previously at Aludecor, Standard Chartered, Trident Group, and Zomato until leaving her full-time role to become a founder in the startup ecosystem.

Her appointment reflects Google's focus on supporting India's emerging startup ecosystem with an emphasis on programs and initiatives that are focused on founders and developing local entrepreneurial expertise.
