Thailand has secured the honour of hosting the 2027 Global Summit of Women (GSW), marking a significant milestone in the country's efforts to champion women's leadership and strengthen its position as a global hub for international conferences. The announcement was made at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Global Summit of Women in Istanbul, Türkiye, where delegates from more than 60 countries gathered to exchange ideas on advancing women's economic participation and leadership across business, government, and technology.

Key Highlights:

  • Bangkok will host the Global Summit of Women in June 2027
  • More than 1,000 delegates from over 60 countries are expected
  • Thailand aims to strengthen global collaboration on women's leadership and innovation

Scheduled to take place in Bangkok in June 2027, the summit is expected to welcome more than 1,000 influential leaders, including heads of government, ministers, chief executives, entrepreneurs, investors, and academics. The annual event has become one of the world's most respected platforms for promoting women's leadership, fostering international partnerships, and encouraging inclusive economic growth.

Established more than three decades ago by Irene Natividad, the Global Summit of Women has consistently brought together decision-makers from across sectors to address the challenges and opportunities facing women worldwide. Discussions typically focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, digital transformation, public policy, and sustainable economic development, while encouraging collaboration between governments and the private sector.

Thailand's delegation to the 2026 summit was headed by former Minister of Tourism and Sports Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, accompanied by senior representatives from government agencies, academia, and leading businesses. The delegation included Ms. Supatra Chirathivat, Dr. Narudee Kiengsiri, officials from the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), and several prominent Thai business executives.

Accepting the hosting responsibilities during the official handover ceremony, Mrs. Kobkarn reaffirmed Thailand's commitment to delivering an exceptional international summit that reflects the country's expertise in organising world-class events. She emphasised that Bangkok would provide an ideal setting for meaningful dialogue, networking, and collaboration among women leaders from across the globe.

The handover ceremony concluded with a colourful cultural presentation showcasing traditional performances from Thailand's four regions, highlighting the country's rich heritage and welcoming spirit. The performances, supported by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, offered delegates a preview of the cultural experiences awaiting participants in 2027.

Dr. Supawan Teerarat, President and Director of TCEB, noted that Thailand's advanced convention facilities, modern transport networks, and internationally recognised hospitality sector make Bangkok one of Asia's leading destinations for business events. Hosting the summit is expected to further enhance the country's reputation while creating new opportunities for tourism, trade, and international investment.

The summit also featured discussions on emerging technologies, including financial technology, Web3, tokenisation, and artificial intelligence. Among the speakers was Dr. Narisa Chauvidul-Aw, CEO and Founder of KogoPay and KogoX, who highlighted the growing role of innovation in expanding financial inclusion and supporting sustainable economic development. She described Thailand's selection as host as an opportunity to showcase the nation's innovation ecosystem while inspiring more women to pursue entrepreneurship and leadership.
