The second iteration of the "Women in Business" Initiative of financial services behemoth FSDH Group had as its topic "Women on the Rise; Leveraging Technology, Community and Capital."
Women and men from a variety of fields, particularly those in business and technology, attended the event, which took place at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Lagos. As FSDH's contribution to the female economy, the FSDH Women in Business Initiative was launched last year to help more businesswomen succeed in their chosen fields of endeavour.
The event focused on how women can harness technology, utilise community, and gain financial empowerment for themselves, and it was intended at business executives, startup founders, and prominent career women from various sectors of the "female economy."
The importance of female communities in the development of businesses was highlighted in the first panel discussion, which was moderated by award-winning compere Olive Emodi and included Oluwatosin Olaseinde, founder of Money Africa, Damilola Olokesusi, founder of Shuttlers, and Adebola Deji-Kurumi, founder of IMMERSE Coaching Company.
In their discussions, the women came to the conclusion that visionary women differ from ordinary daily women primarily because they are purpose-driven and concentrated on gaining access to all the resources necessary to realise their desired futures.
Solape Akinpelu, Founder HerVest, Olu Akanmu, Co-CEO OPay Nigeria, Ashim Egunjobi, Investor Octerra Capital, and Yanmo Omorogbe, Co-founder Bamboo were all on the second panel.
The different ways that women could set up their firms for international funding prospects were discussed in this session.
The 'FSDH Women in Business Desk' was unveiled at the event, which was another highlight. This desk was created to help female-led firms gain access to markets, funding, networks, and business education.
Head of the Women in Business Desk at FSDH Merchant Bank Gold Nwoke announced that the bank was ready to support women in developing customised goods and services that would support the expansion of their businesses.
Furthermore, FSDH announced a soon-to-start incubator programme for female tech entrepreneurs in the nation as part of its mission to truly empower enterprises.
The 6-week programme will involve intensive learning and mentoring sessions, Masterclasses on various business topics, and a pitch day that will result in non-equity funding for a chosen group of participants.
By giving women more possibilities and venues to access finance, community, network, and investment options for the growth of the economy, FSDH intends to continue closing the funding gap that women-led businesses encounter.
