The schemes YSR Kalyanamasthu and YSR Shaadi Tohfa provide financial aid to underprivileged girls from the SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities and also to those families who work as daily wage laborers or construction workers and people with disabilities. Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday, announced an amount of 141.60 crore rupees for both of these schemes.
According to the CM, this initiative was created to encourage girls from low-income SC, ST, OBC, and minority communities, and underprivileged disabled people to pursue their education. So far, 18,883 girls who were married between April and June 2023 would receive money that will be deposited directly into their mother's bank accounts.
The OBC beneficiaries would receive Rs. 50,000 while the SC, ST, and minority beneficiaries would receive an amount of Rs. 1 lakh each. The families of construction workers would receive Rs. 40,000 each whereas the disabled individuals would receive Rs. 1.50 lakh.
The SC ST individuals who have married inter-caste would get Rs. 1.20 lakh and that of the OBC incentives would receive Rs. 75,000 each.
This initiative would help those females who are from the backward groups and need to complete their education while releasing the funds into the accounts with the click of a mouse from the camp office at Tadepalli, said CM Jagan Mohan.
The eligibility of the marriage for both individuals needs to be a 10th pass.
According to Jagan Mohan Reddy, education is the key to removing poverty as it will allow the parents to provide proper education facilities and honorable marriages. It would also lower the dropout rate and boost enrollment in colleges.
This program also aims to keep low-income families from getting trapped in a debt cycle. Eminent delegates and ministers were present during the event.
