Falguni Nayar, the founder of Nykaa, entered the top ten list of self-made women billionaires in the world, with a fortune of $7.6 billion. According to a Hurun Research Institute compilation, she is the newest addition to the list of women billionaires.
Nayar, who is 58 years old, debuted at number ten on the list, making him the only Indian to accomplish so. She dethroned Biocon's Kiran Mazumdar Shaw to become India's wealthiest self-made billionaire woman. Nykaa is a woman-led unicorn that sells beauty and fashion products through its website, app, and a number of physical locations.
According to the ranking, there are 124 self-made female billionaires in the world today, with all of them hailing from just 16 countries.
Without a single self-made woman billionaire, Japan, Germany, France, Canada, and South Korea are the world's top economies.
According to the survey, the number of self-made women billionaires in India has tripled in the last decade.
“There are 124 self-made women billionaires in the world today, double that of five years ago and 100 more than ten years ago,” Rupert Hoogewerf, chairman and chief researcher of Hurun Report, said.
With $17 billion in her bank account, Beijing-based property developer Wu Yajun, 58, of Longfor, is the world's richest self-made woman billionaire. China is home to two-thirds of the world's self-made female billionaires (78), with seven of the top ten women hailing from the country.
Apart from Falguni Nayar and Mazumdar Shaw, Radha Vembu is India's third female billionaire.
With a net worth of $3.9 billion, the 49-year-old co-founder of Zoho is the country's third richest self-made woman billionaire. She works as a product manager for Zoho, which she co-founded with her brother. According to the ranking, Vembu has witnessed the most development and is ranked second among those who have grown the most.
Neha Narkhede, the creator of software firm Confluent, is of Indian descent but lives in California. She is worth $1.6 billion in total. She is one of Hurun's top ten new female billionaires.
