  • DP World and WEP introduced We Rise – Women Entrepreneurs Reimagining Inclusive and Sustainable Enterprises
  • The initiative aims to enhance women entrepreneurs’ readiness for international markets
  • Under WEP’s ATR framework, 100 high-potential women-led enterprises will be identified and mentored to scale globally

Multinational logistics company, DP World and the Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP), have come together to launch the “We Rise – Women Entrepreneurs Reimagining Inclusive and Sustainable Enterprises” programme, with the support of NITI Aayog. Aimed to help Indian women-led MSMEs, the We Rise initiative will strengthen women business leaders’ preparedness for international markets. The program will do so by providing trade facilitation, mentorship and strategic partnerships.

The program will identify and mentor 100 women-led businesses that have a strong growth potential under WEP’s Award to Reward (ATR) framework. Logistics company, DP World will make use of its international logistics and supply-chain expertise to teach women business leaders about export readiness and more. The chosen women will also benefit from DP World enabled compliance with international trade norms. The selected women will be connected with overseas buyers. A primary feature of the initiative is that a showcase will be held for the chosen businesses at Bharat Mart in Dubai’s Jebel Ali Free Zone. This move will provide chosen women business leaders with access to B2B and B2C international marketplaces.

WEP’s CEO, B. V. R. Subrahmanyam believes that this partnership is a step in the right direction for India’s intention of enabling women-led economic growth. DP World’s regional head, Rizwan Soomar, highlighted that inclusive trade starts with rendering access and infrastructure to those who need it.

The “We Rise” programme has emerged as a strategic initiative that will connect Indian women-led manufacturing firms with global trade networks.
