On Thursday, CM Yogi Adityanath stated that no society can develop if women are ignored. Development is only possible with the empowerment of half of the population.
To advance society, behavior towards women should be changed. They should be treated properly without any atrocities. He further stated that there are several schemes led by PM Narendra Modi to uplift the dignity of women and empower them.
He addressed the newlywed couples on Thursday at a mass marriage ceremony under the Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana in Gorakhpur.
The Mukhyamantri Samuhik Vivah Yojana is a scheme led by the government for the pro-women, pro-rural and pro-poor initiatives. It aims to combat the dowry practice that is still practiced widely in society.
Under this scheme, more than two lakh marriages have been conducted since 2017. The couples receive an amount of Rs 51,000 under this scheme which has been a collective effort by the double-engine government.
Several other schemes titled, Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana have been executed in the state for girls’ education right from birth till their graduation whereas "Mission Shakti" ensures women's safety in the state.
For women's development and welfare, the government has taken major steps so that they do not need to worry about marriage or education. In the spirit of 'gaon ki beti, sabki beti', 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao', and 'Matru Vandana', females are being provided several benefits.
Lastly, the CM also mentioned the government duties and recruitment being conducted for females. It has been mandatory to provide 20 per cent reservations for women in police. Female personnel in UP Police has increased to 40,000 since 2017.
