CM Mohan Charan Majhi held meetings with three of the top fintech company executives attending the Black Swan Summit in Bhubaneswar to discuss the consolidated collaborations for youth skills development, women’s empowerment, and entrepreneurship in Odisha.

These discussions took place within Lok Seva Bhawan, which is essentially a group of physically separated buildings that provide services as government (e.g., OM, Headquarters, field offices, schools, etc.) in India.

Over the last two years, the Chief Minister discussed the transformative initiatives that have been implemented by his government, which focus on investing in developing infrastructure and promoting a variety of empowerment programs for farmers and women. These initiatives have yielded positive dividends for these individuals.

The Chief Minister specifically requested assistance from the visiting leaders in further empowering women and youth in Odisha through developing viable models of entrepreneurship and innovative business opportunities.

Mohan provided updates regarding the ongoing collaboration between GFTN and Odisha, stating that the first batch of 195 students trained on FinTech through the skilling program had completed their training. Many of the students have already been employed in various roles, including jobs in Singapore.

He has also announced plans to build on this partnership to increase it to the next level, establishing boot camps to promote entrepreneurship among the newly skilled youth.

Schlein and Feagin shared about their recent visits to Self Help Groups (SHGs), appreciating their business models and business performances, especially those led by women.

The speakers were interested in assisting the SHGs in transforming themselves into Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), assisting them in areas such as technology, e-commerce, and marketing, so that they can export globally.

Both leaders followed successful models from other countries and expressed their commitment to achieving the same results in Odisha.

Moreover, the IT Minister of the state, Mukesh Mahaling, mentioned that there were MoUs between the Global Finance & Technology Network and the Startup Policy Forum, between Corporate Champions of BharatNetra, and the IT Department of Odisha during the summit.

These alliances are the way to create Odisha as a future-ready digital economy that is both innovative and connected to the rest of the world.

The summit has been referred to as a significant opportunity to convert ideas into actions, develop new jobs, explore global opportunities, and foster technological innovations, as well as fortify global financial networks.
