The newly appointed ambassador for Room to Read, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating illiteracy and gender inequality, is Charithra Chandran who is an actress, producer, and activist. The announcement came with the landmark film project Room to Read. She Creates Change, as an official selection for the 2023 Tribeca X Award, which honors the year’s best-in-class works at the Tribeca Festival.
Charithra is an Asian actress who is British-born along with this she is also an activist and producer. In She Creates Change which is the first non-profit-led animation and also a live-action film project to promote gender equality through the stories of young women around the world, she dubs the role of Keya, a strong young woman from Bangladesh. With She Creates Change films, books, audio content, and educational curriculum, Room to Read aims to boldly reach all 432 million adolescent girls worldwide. These materials support the girls in making changes in their lives and communities.
