Leading Indian tyre manufacturer, Ceat Tyres has launched the concept of all-women operated tyre shoppes. First of its kind, women operated Ceat Shoppee has opened shop in Bhatinda, Punjab. The company also mentioned that ten more of these would be opened across India in the next few months.

This comes as an important step towards bringing in gender diversity in the traditionally male dominated tyre industry. This step will also improve employment opportunities for women across India.

The company said that the shoppee will be completely owned, managed and operated by a team of women. All women Ceat shoppes will have only women workforce for all service-related assistance for customers, including wheel changing, balancing and operating various machinery to service a vehicle. Ceat will arrange to give an end to end training to the women employees.

Amit Tolani, chief marketing officer, Ceat, said “Ceat recognises the value of gender diversity at the workplace. We have been offering equal and fair opportunities to women in every field including our manufacturing plants. From shop-floor engineers to leadership roles, CEAT has a diversified female workforce. They take up challenging jobs and grow in their respective fields.”

“All Women CEAT Shoppe is an industry-first initiative that reiterates our commitment to allowing women to grow and make a mark in the tyre Industry, a predominantly male-driven business. The initiative will not only provide financial stability to the women but also inspire many others to join this industry. We plan to expand our footprints across India with many more such outlets in the months to come,” he said.

With 300-plus CEAT Shoppes in India, the all-women shoppes are authorised one-stop-shop for vehicular assistance for sales and service to customers.
