By: Women Entrepreneurs Review Team | Monday, 26 October 2026
Business Today’s ‘Most Powerful Women in Business’ (MPW) awards held their 23rd iteration in Mumbai on 23rd October, honoring the achievements of women who have made a difference in India’s business world. A total of 100 women leaders from listed companies were recognized through an awards ceremony based on a profitability methodology, in addition to 61 ‘Super Achievers,’ leaders from unlisted companies.
The awards were presented in recognition of women’s leadership making significant contribution to the Indian economy through growth, enterprise development, and economic performance. While profitability was used in measuring leaders from listed companies, the Super Achievers were recognition of outstanding achievements of leaders from unlisted companies.
Key Highlights:
- Business Today MPW Awards spotlight women leaders driving indigenous technology, R&D and innovation
- The awards explored balancing business legacy with innovation & changing market demands
- They also highlighted The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group’s expansion plans over five years
The award recognized the wider idea of leadership, where the effectiveness of the leader was judged by their influence in terms of results, value creation, and resilience, and not just by virtue of their status. The MPW Awards have shown myriad ways in which women leaders have contributed to the development of Indian companies.
A very unique aspect of the ceremony was the professional camaraderie on display where female leaders presented the awards to other achieving women. This particular interaction brought out the essence of women celebrating women, celebrating successes, as well as highlighting the personal stories, hard work, and achievements that made them winners.
Unveiling became the focal point of the celebrations at the gathering, bringing together women leaders across various industries to celebrate their successes and record their thoughts on the prospects and hurdles in front of Indian businesses in the coming years.
The program also evaluated the business environment as a whole in which India is heading towards economic growth in the future, especially focusing on the contribution of women entrepreneurs towards the development of the country. Union Minister, Nitin Gadkari, appreciated the achievements made by the women entrepreneurs in the country and addressed the problems faced by them in their entrepreneurial ventures.
Women shared their experiences related to their professional lives and also talked about the difficulties associated with running a business successfully. Moreover, the discussions were focused on the link between legacy, consumers’ trust, and the growth of business.
Nyrika Holkar, Executive Director, Godrej Enterprises Group, emphasized that while the reputation of an enterprise can make consumers trust it, the reputation does not assure consumers of continuing to choose the company’s products and services. Further on, the discussions by Nyrika clearly identified the problem faced by many successful enterprises, which should preserve their legacy values but cope with changes in consumers’ behavior.
Discussions also demonstrated influx and growth in the field of hospitality, where Jyotsna Suri (chairperson & managing director) and Deeksha Suri (executive director) of The LaLiT Suri Hospitality Group, described their vision regarding the development of spiritual tourism and expansion. Their strategy includes adding 1,000 rooms and signing 20 management agreements within the next five years.
