  • By 2030-31 season, Brighton and Hove Albion are aiming to build the first women's football-only stadium in the whole of Europe.
  • Location to be close to the AMEX Stadium.
  • The 10000-seat ground will be fitted with state-of-the-art facilities, designed exclusively for women's football.

Brighton & Hove Albion are set to do something never done before in the history of European football by dedicating a stadium to women's football only. The 10000-capacity stadium, which the club hopes to have by the 2030-2031 season, will be just a stone's throw from their current AMEX Stadium.

Special facilities catering to the needs of women, female-specific areas in the club, such as women's team locker rooms and lounges, which are family and children friendly, and innovative in attracting new fans are some of the features that the new Brighton Athletic stadium will have.

This project, also along with other recently disclosed ones, is seen as a ground-breaking transformation in women's football. According to the club CEO, Paul Barber, it is "a strong proclamation of our dreams." More than that, he conveyed that it will be a significant instrument to raise the interest in women's and girls' football not only in the UK but all over the world.

Former Brighton player and England international Fran Kirby talking to The Guardian described the move as "revolutionary". She thinks it's a step that player communities have been wishing for for a long time. To her, a stadium is a concrete sign of a professional environment that will not only help women's football to succeed on the pitch but also in the other related areas.

Brighton has become one of the few clubs to throw their weight behind the building of a women's football only stadium. The Kansas City Current launched a similar venue in 2024, and the Denver Summit is planning to do it in 2028.

The stadium is expected to have a strong economic impact as it will create local jobs in construction and training as well as reinforce Brighton's status as a center for women's football development. It is a step from just a symbolic gesture to a genuine infrastructural investment in women's football for a long time.
