BRICS CCI WE urge Prioritizing Policies for Women Entrepreneurs in Budget 2024-25
By: WE Staff | Wednesday, 17 July 2024
The BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry Women's Empowerment (BRICS CCI WE) has called on the finance minister to prioritize policies and initiatives to empower women entrepreneurs in the upcoming budget. The organization argues that women entrepreneurs often face challenges due to gender biases and limited resources, requiring increased financial support, policy reforms, and dedicated programs to foster growth and innovation.
The BRICS CCI WE has submitted 10 recommendations for the Union Budget 2024-25, including increasing resources for women-led MSMEs, enhancing funding for Skill India, supporting mentorship initiatives, implementing policy interventions, investing in safer urban environments, and expanding childcare facilities and caregiver services for women entrepreneurs. The government should also boost female-focused venture capital funds and provide higher tax deductions and relaxations to reduce financial burdens and promote growth in women-owned businesses.
BRICS CCI, established in 2012, promotes commerce and industry in BRICS nations, focusing on women's empowerment and creating a supportive system for entrepreneurs and professionals worldwide. The BRICS CCI WE is advocating for increased access to capital for women entrepreneurs through grants, low-interest loans, and venture capital. The organization calls for policy reforms to create more business-friendly, dedicated programs for training and mentoring, investment in infrastructure and technology, market access, and strong support networks.
