BMRCL & NLM sign MoU to Support Marginalized Women Entrepreneurs

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has partnered with the National Leprosy Mission (NLM) to support women entrepreneurs. The memorandum of agreement (MoU) aims to provide resources, opportunities, and training to women entrepreneurs, and training to women entrepreneurs, especially from marginalized communities. The aim is to enhance their livelihoods and promote gender equality in the business landscape.
The initiative, launched on August 7, aims to offer rural and urban women entrepreneurs a one-year stall rental opportunity at Bengaluru Santhe in Swami Vivekananda Road, promoting local crafts, khadi, and other rural products for self-help groups, artisans, and small-scale entrepreneurs. Bengaluru Santhe, a marketplace by BMRCL, RDPR, and HUDCO is a new marketplace, also known as the Rural Haat, which showcases Karnataka's folk art and attracts locals and tourists.
The partnership will offer concessional rates for these spaces, facilitate skill development and training programs, provide financial support and mentorship, promote local and indigenous products made by women, and emphasize sustainability and inclusivity, The initiative aims to boost women's participation in the local development projects, ensuring infrastructure development goes hand in hand with community empowerment. this initiative aligns with the 'Vocal for Local' movement.
