Badminton Asia Championships 2023: PV Sindhu & HS Prannoy to lead Team India

The Asian Badminton Championships will be the new focus after the busy European schedule on the BWF tour. The continental championship is scheduled to start in Dubai on April 25. The competition will feature top badminton players like Jonathan Christie, Anthony Ginting, Lee Zii Jia, Akane Yamaguchi, and An Se Young. Indian top players PV Sindhu and HS Prannoy are ranked eighth in the women's and male's singles divisions respectively.
The sixth-seeded men's doubles team will have the pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Renkireddy. News9 Sports examines the tournament champions:
1. Men's Singles: Lee Zii Jia (Malaysia)
2. Women's Singles: Wang Zhi Yi (China)
3. Men's Doubles: Pramudya Kusumawardhana/ Yeremia Rambitan (Indonesia)
4. Women's Doubles: Chen Qingchen - Jia Yifan (China)
5. Mixed Doubles: Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong (China)
Women's Singles
PV Sindhu is the eighth-seeded player who is positioned in the last quarter and will compete against Chinese Taipei's Wen Chi Hsu in the opening round of the tournament. An Se-young is the only other-seeded player in this quarter. In the second round of the tournament, Sindhu will either compete against China's Han Yue or Japan's Saena Kawakami.
After making the first-round exit from the Orleans Masters, Saina Nehwal will also be seen in action. In the opening round of the campaign, she will be facing a qualifier round. Saina may face stiff competition from the second-seeded player He Bing Jiao.
The audience will also witness Aakarshi Kashyap and Malvika Bansod during the tournament where Malvika will face top-seeded player Akane Yamaguchi in the first round and Aakarshi will compete against seventh-seeded player Ratchanok Intanon.
Women's Doubles
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand are the top-seeded players on the women's doubles team. They will compete against Meilysa Puspitasari and Rachel Rose of Indonesia in the first round and may face the sixth-seeded player Jeong Na Eun and Kim Hye Jiong of South Korea in the second round.
Ashwini Bhat and Shikha Gautam are the other Indian players in the women's doubles category who will face Meilysa Puspitasari and Rachel Rose of Indonesia in the first round.
