Apraava Energy & CII Acknowledge 15 Women Changemakers in Assam

Apraava Energy, an eminent integrated energy solutions provider from India has collaborated with CII Foundation, one of the reputed non-profit agencies that promote inclusive growth, and honoring the award to 15 remarkable women and women changemakers from Assam. These extraordinary leaders have been honored for their excellent work and for lifting more than 1000 women in impoverished regions within the state.
The program, named the ‘Empowering Champions of Change’, is managed by Apraava Smart Meter Private Limited which is the subsidiary of Apraava Energy and it has been conceptualized to celebrate and empower women community leaders who are involved in grassroots initiatives that are bringing about the desired transformation.
Women leaders who are all illustrious in their rights come from the eight districts of Assam, which are Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, and South Salmara Mankachar. Their work is very broad, ranging from combating home-based violence to the provision of employment opportunities, going to school anew, adult literacy promotion, and addressing other issues that are affecting society.
Through this initiative, the women will undergo specialized training to develop their leadership skills even further so that they can take the lead on district-level committees on anti-economic disparities projects. Standing together, their purpose is to significantly influence the lives of approximately 15,000 women from poor and vulnerable communities in Assam within the next year.
Mr. Rajiv Kumar, AMI Senior Vice President, Apraava Energy, stated the main purpose of the program is to appreciate and acknowledge those women leaders with incredible hearts to bring a change in the lives of marginalized women in Assam. Hence he applauded the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) and CII for their useful help that made this project possible.
Mr. Rubul Nath, CEO, of Kokrajhar EC, and a couple of representatives from Apraava Energy in the presence of Ms. Bijaya Boro, General Manager – Bongaigaon Zone (Kokrajhar EC, Barpeta EC, and Bongaigaon EC), APDCL, all congratulated these excellent women. Ms. Boro applauded the platform as a powerful tool to trigger a women-led revolution in the state, and she wished the 15 women activists well in their fight for positive social changes.
The Kohima Mariani Transmission Ltd. (KMTL), a 254 km long interstate transmission project is currently being handled by the Apraava Energy in Assam. Furthermore, AMI is to be installed in both Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar Electricity Circles under APDCL, enabling better supervision and a stable supply of electricity to approximately 7 lakh consumers. Besides Apraava’s smart meter project in Assam which was the first go-live under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) initiated by the Central Government.
As the core business venture of Apraava, they have also built a centralized lunch kitchen in partnership with The Akshaya Patra Foundation. The kitchen, located in Jorhat, Assam, serves nutritious dinners to children daily in government schools as part of its community investments.
