Andhra Pradesh Targets Cultivating 30K Women Entrepreneurs Under MEPMA Initiative

n 123 Andhra Pradesh municipalities, the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) aims to cultivate 30,000 women entrepreneurs. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's orders are being followed by this initiative.

MEPMA Managing Director N. Tej Bharat declared that MEPMA is ready to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with interested NGOs and corporates during a meeting with NGOs and representatives from corporate companies on Friday at the MEPMA headquarters in Tadepalli. These collaborations will concentrate on putting business development or corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that empower women into action.

Tej also asked for information on the ongoing projects, action plans, funding capabilities, manpower, and resources of the corporations and NGOs. He also asked if they plan to function at the state or district level.

To promote, strengthen, and support self-sustaining institutions for the urban poor, the Andhra Pradesh government launched the Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA) on September 1, 2007. The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh chairs the Governing Body, which is in charge of the mission. The Secretary of the Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD) Department leads the Executive Committee.

MEPMA is the nodal agency for carrying out Central and State Government programs aimed at reducing poverty and empowering self-help groups in the state's cities.
