AIMPLB to raise the Proportion of Women on the Board

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has made the decision to increase the representation of women on the Board's decision-making committees.
The AIMPLB has chosen to include women in all of its significant committees in order to hear their opinions after disbanding its women's wing in March 2022.
The women's wing will instruct women in the neighbourhood on their responsibilities and rights under Islamic law.
Women on the Board will raise awareness among families about the benefits of giving daughters a portion in the family's property as opposed to dowry and fight against lavish weddings and dowry in Muslim society.
AIMPLB executive member Dr. Qasim Rasool Ilyas said, "In the Board meeting, the women's wing was reinstated. In the entire nation, there are 251 members of the AIMPLB, 30 of whom are female. There are 51 people who make up the executive committee, including four women."
He stated: "The women's wing of the Board will now have one convener and five joint conveners. They will work to recruit female members from all throughout the nation. These individuals will educate women on the obligations and rights that women have under Islamic law. They will also provide information on Kanoon-e-Shariat and Islah-e-Ashara Tafaheem-e-Shariat."
According to Dr. Qasim, the AIMPLB simplified the Nikahnama and made various alterations to reduce its length from four pages to two pages. Along with information regarding the husband and his post-marriage rights, the Nikahnama also outlines the Qazi, who officiates at the wedding, duties and guidelines.
