The After Hours Film Society will show the 2021 Indian documentary “Writing with Fire” on Monday, December 13, at 7: 30 p.m. at Tivoli Theatre, 5021 Highland Ave. in Downers Grove.

Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh directed and produced the 93-minute film with English subtitles.

A fearless group of journalists maintain India’s only women-led news outlet, reporting from a social environment built to divide based on caste and gender. The women of Khabar Lahariya prepare to transition the newspaper from print to digital. Chief Reporter Meera and her team of investigative journalists confront some of India’s biggest issues, amplifying the voices of those who suffer from the oppressive caste system and exposing the relentless discrimination against women.

The 2021 film “Mass,” directed by Fran Kranz, will be shown on Monday, January 10, at 7:30 pm.

Two sets of parents, agree to talk privately, years after an unspeakable tragedy tore their lives apart, in an attempt to move forward. Fran Kranz thoughtfully examines their journey of anger, grief and acceptance.

The series will continue with the 2021 documentary “The Rescue” on January 24. The film in Norwegian, Korean, Thai and English subtitles is directed by Elizabeth Chai Varsarhelyi and Jimmy Chin. “The Rescue” portrays the daring rescue of 12 boys and their coach from deep inside a flooded cave in Northern Thailand.

There is a meeting of the After Hours Flim Society on the second and fourth Mondays of the month.
