Accenture Promotes a Record Number of Women at all Levels

Accenture elevated 80,000 employees on Wednesday, including 1,030 managing directors and 143 senior managing directors. In the United States, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, the promotions include a record number of women and enhanced race and ethnicity representation, according to the report.

According to sources, India would have received around half of the promotions (40,000). Accenture India did not dispute the figure when asked about it. India employs roughly 2.5 lakh people out of a total workforce of 624,000. The company mentioned, “in India, women represented nearly 50% of all promotions, and more than 30% at the managing director level."

According to Accenture, promotions, wage raises, and incentives were announced at all levels in December "reflect our commitment to providing a vibrant career path to all of our people, and are a recognition of the tremendous difference they are making to our clients, their colleagues, our shareholders, partners and communities."

The promotions account for 13% of the overall number of employees. In fiscal year 2021, which concluded in August, the corporation issued over 120,000 promotions.

A total of 383 women were promoted to managing director, accounting for 37% of all MD promotions. Women have been appointed to 35 senior managing director positions, accounting for 24% of all appointments. According to the corporation, the number of women managing directors has climbed to 27%, up from 25% in 2020, "demonstrating continued momentum towards our goal of 30% women managing directors globally by 2025."

Julie Sweet, the company's CEO, said in a press release on Wednesday, "as of February 1, Accenture has 100% pay equity for women compared to men, in every country where it operates."
