
60% of women in energy sector want better policies to help India reach 2030 clean energy goal: IESA

Around 60 percent of female professionals employed in India's energy sector have urged gender-responsive policies in order for the country to achieve its ambitious target of having 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, a report by the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has said.
The research, which spanned 26 states, pointed towards the imperative of strong policy and regulatory frameworks to promote increased participation of women in the energy sector.
The report also spoke of how government schemes such as PM Surya Ghar, PM KUSUM, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission have helped facilitate greater participation of women in the clean energy sector.
"Women are not only on the energy transition curve but are also leading the change at the grassroots level," IESA President Debmalya Sen said. IESA is among India's top industry associations that works towards facilitating energy storage, e-mobility, and green hydrogen solutions in India.
IESA's Women in Energy (WE) program seeks to connect, learn from, and inspire women working professionals on clean energy and green technology. Supported by the vast resources and professional network of IESA, the initiative seeks to enhance the role of women and ensure gender diversity and equity across nascent areas like energy storage, e-mobility, and the overall renewable energy space.
