Six female Indian cricketers, including team India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, will take part in the soon to be held Women's Big Bash League (WBBL). The six women cricketers have been chosen by different teams and will play in the WBBL starting October 27.
Ace player Smriti was pre-signed by Adelaide Strikers. Top level batter, Dayalan Hemalatha will be making her WBBL debut after being picked by the Perth Scorchers.
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia will also be seen playing in WBBL for the first time and she was chosen by the Melbourne Stars. She will be joining her teammate from the Indian cricket team, Deepti Sharma.
WBBL will also see all-rounder Shikha Pandey play for the Brisbane Heat. Shikha’s talent will be leveraged to add much-needed pace to the team and provide support in the middle-to-lower-order batting. Shikha will be available for the entire WBBL season since she has not been chosen as one of the players on India's T20 World Cup team. She will be joining young batting talent Jemimah Rodrigues in Brisbane Heat's team.
The first match of WBBL is slated to be played between Adelaide Strikers and Brisbane Heat on October 27 in Adelaide.
