Fifty women entrepreneurs from Maharashtra are showcasing India's rich cultural and entrepreneurial heritage at Namaste Bharat 2026, an international exhibition taking place in Singapore from October 22 to 25. The exhibition features various products that exhibit diverse cultures and traditional craftsmanship of India such as handicrafts, regional food products, textiles, jewelry, and authentic millet products.

The move hopes to bridge the gap between women-owned enterprises and the rest of the world giving them a chance to promote their products. The delegation was led by Pournnima Shirishkar, an advocate of women's empowerment and the brainchild behind ZHEP Udyogininchi.

Key Highlights:

  • 50 Maharashtra women entrepreneurs showcase traditional Indian products in Singapore
  • ZHEP Udyogininchi's first international delegation represents 750,000 connected women
  • Entrepreneurs plan to participate in another international trade fair in Milan in December 2026

According to Pournnima, the women entrepreneurs will interact with local companies and people in Singapore to promote their products and seek avenues through which they can expand commercially. This is the first delegation to have taken part in the international expo out of the 750,000 women affiliated with ZHEP. The women entrepreneurs took an entire year to prepare for this exhibition.

Involvement of women entrepreneurs from Maharashtra has put the traditional craftsmanship of the state into the limelight on the international stage. The organizers of ZHEP Udyogininchi have been able to bring together skilled craft makers from various districts to showcase their skills and interact with visitors from Singapore.

At the event, the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore, Shilpak Ambule, highlighted the commercial prospects that arise owing to the diverse consumer base of Singapore and its strong connections with the Asian markets. He also stressed the importance of the High Commission in fostering business linkages between Singapore and India. These continuous endeavours include making sure that Singaporean businessmen have access to various parts of India for establishing their trade relations and collaborations beyond commercial centers.

Shilpak additionally mentioned that the country is aiming to build up its trading relationships with firms not just in cities like Delhi and Mumbai but with firms in various other parts of India as well. This approach can create new possibilities for firms in the region, particularly those owned by women, to forge international business networking links.

For the women entrepreneurs, the visit to Singapore is just one of several other endeavours in gaining access to international markets. Following Namaste Bharat 2026, they will again be participating in another trade fair at Milan, Italy, from December 5 to 12, 2026. As per Shirishkar, these overseas promotional tours are supported by different extents of government support. While some are sponsored by the government of Maharashtra, others get support from both governments.

Founder and CEO of De Ideaz, Purnima Kamath, highlighted that the event also features about 150 exhibitors hailing from different regions of India. Starting from artisans and entrepreneurs who operate from far-flung villages to entrepreneurs operating in cities, the participation will provide them with a platform to showcase the diversified entrepreneurial culture of India. With this exhibition, one can expect India's varied range of products and craft to get highlighted helping India build its business relations and cultural relations with Singapore.
